Pet Boarding Tips

Planning ahead will make things easier on you and your pets. Follow these tips to make your pet’s stay safer and more comfortable:

  1. Update Vaccines
Make sure your pet’s vaccines are up to date. A vaccine appointment protects your pet against common illnesses and gives veterinarians a chance to check your pet’s overall health.

  2. Don’t Overdo the Goodbyes
We know it’s hard to say goodbye to your pet, and it’s natural to be anxious or worried about your loved one while you’re apart, but pets are sensitive to our feelings and moods. A prolonged or emotional goodbye can make things harder on your pet or even trigger separation anxiety.

Please also do not give any extra goodbye treats (like a hamburger or whipped cream) before your pet comes to stay with us, as this can cause intestinal upset.

  3. Pack Food Carefully
We provide iVet Healthy Gourmet food (chicken with rice) free of charge for boarded pets. If your pet requires a special diet, please be sure to pack plenty of food for them. If possible, consider pre-portioning each day’s food in individual plastic bags so your pet gets exactly what she would be getting at home each day.

Even if you’re taking only a short trip, be sure to pack extra food. If an emergency arises that keeps you away longer than expected, this ensures your pet will have enough food until you return. If your pet has any digestive issues or special needs, be sure to let us know when dropping her off!

  4. Check Medications
Check your pet’s medications carefully and go over them with staff at drop-off. Make sure all of your pet’s medications are clearly labeled and staff understand dosage instructions. As with food, it’s better to overpack than to risk running out of medications if your flight is delayed, so plan to pack extra.

Don’t worry about bedding and toys – we provide them! If your animal has a special item, please ask us about bringing it when you make your boarding appointment.
